How much does a website cost: the factors that affect the price

The cost of a website varies considerably. A simple brochure site can cost a few hundred euros. A complex e-commerce site can run into tens of thousands. It depends on what you actually need.

The main cost factors

Here is what drives the price up:

  • Number of pages: more pages mean more design and content work.
  • Custom features: online bookings, members-only areas, integrations with management systems.
  • E-commerce: online shop with products, cart, payments and order management.
  • Bespoke design: an original project costs more than a template.
  • SEO optimisation: a site optimised from the start requires more development work.

Indicative price ranges

  • Brochure site (3–5 pages): from €800 to €3,000.
  • Full corporate site (10–20 pages): from €2,000 to €8,000.
  • Basic e-commerce: from €3,000 upwards, with no ceiling for complex projects.

Beware of very low quotes

A €200–300 website exists. But it is almost always an unoptimised template. The initial saving costs dearly later: a slow site, SEO problems and difficulty making changes.

Recurring costs

Beyond development, consider the fixed costs: hosting (€50–300 per year), domain (€10–20 per year) and maintenance. A professional site always has annual running costs.
