Web Design

Will my site be responsive?

Yes, all sites are responsive and optimised for mobile, tablet and desktop. Mobile-first design is a standard in every project.

What is a responsive site and why is it essential

A responsive site automatically adapts to the visitor's screen. It works well on computers, tablets and smartphones. Without responsive design, the site looks poor on mobile devices.

Why it matters so much

Today more than 60% of Google searches happen on smartphones. If the site doesn't work well on mobile, you are losing more than half your potential visitors.

There is also a technical reason. Google evaluates the mobile version of the site first. This is known as mobile-first indexing. A non-responsive site loses positions in search results.

How to recognise a responsive site

A responsive site has these characteristics:

  • Text is readable without needing to zoom.
  • Buttons are large enough to tap with a finger.
  • Images resize without overflowing the screen.
  • The menu transforms into a dropdown on mobile.
  • Forms work well on touch screens.

How to check

You can test the site with Google's Mobile-Friendly Test. It is free. It tells you immediately whether there are mobile display issues.

You can also open the site on your smartphone. If you need to pinch to zoom to read, the site is not responsive.

Is it difficult to make it responsive?

If you use a modern CMS with an up-to-date theme, the site is already responsive. If the site is old, you may need a theme update or a new design.
